Asst. Estimator

Schultz Construction is seeking an Assistant Estimator. This is a fulltime year-round position.  Schultz is a heavy civil contractor with main operations in Saratoga County, NY that performs water and wastewater treatment facilities, structural concrete, development infrastructure, utility work, site and highway work.

The successful candidates must be self-motivated and work well in an organization that is professional and goal oriented. This position provides the opportunity for growth within the company within estimating or operations.

Job Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction terminology and experience reading and interpreting plans and specs preferred
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, well organized, tidiness, and have the ability to multi-task extremely well and prioritize.
  • Candidate must be able to present a professional image to industry peers, department staff and the project owners.
  • Must be a self-starter and understand deadlines and have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must have good phone and excellent people skills.
  • Computer literacy to include aptitude in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to maintain high job standards and detail orientation in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires familiarity with construction scheduling; experience with estimating software is a plus.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience within the heavy civil construction field is a plus.
  • Associates in Construction Technology, other related degrees or equivalent heavy civil work experience
  • Must be US Citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
