Schultz Construction is seeking a driven, experienced, and people-focused Construction Director to lead and elevate our operations team based in Ballston Spa, New York.

What You’ll Do
As Director of Construction, you’ll provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and technical direction across active construction projects and field operations.
You’ll work directly with executive leadership to:
- Lead and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, and Operations staff
- Drive project execution, operational performance, accountability, manpower planning, and resource allocation across multiple active projects
- Ensure projects meet contract requirements, CPM schedule milestones, budgeting targets, safety standards, quality expectations, and profitability goals
- Champion a culture built on teamwork, communication, trust, and continuous improvement
- Oversee client relationships, subcontractor management, vendor coordination, and field team performance to ensure successful project delivery
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, and executive leadership teams on forecasting, procurement strategy, risk management, and long-term operational planning
- Support the company’s long-term growth and operational excellence initiatives
This role combines executive leadership with boots-on-the-ground involvement. You’ll regularly visit jobsites, engage with crews, participate in safety meetings, and help drive field performance firsthand.

Lead Major Construction Operations
Oversee construction operations across multiple industrial, commercial, and heavy civil projects, including scheduling oversight, labor productivity, budgeting, forecasting, subcontractor coordination, risk management, and overall project performance. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and works closely with executive leadership.

What You Bring
We’re looking for a proven construction leader with:
- 8+ years of construction operations or project management experience, including leadership responsibility for project teams and field operations
- Strong knowledge of construction operations, project financials, budgeting, forecasting, CPM scheduling, contracts, labor management, subcontractor coordination, and field operations
- Experience leading large, complex construction projects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- A proactive leadership style with strong business acumen
- The ability to inspire accountability, collaboration, and high performance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Construction Link, Microsoft Office, and other related technologies/software
- Advanced certifications or industry credentials are a plus

Work Environment & Travel
This is a full-time, in-office leadership role based in Ballston Spa, NY.
The position includes regular travel to active construction projects throughout New York and the Northeast, along with ongoing engagement with field teams, clients, and project leadership.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary range $163,000 – $188,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and construction operations leadership background
