Versatile Foremen and Experienced Heavy Equipment Operators

W.M. Schultz Construction Inc group of companies, is seeking versatile FOREMEN and HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATORS with experience in cast-in-place concrete, general site work, and process pipe. 

Our group of companies is a leader in the heavy civil construction industry with work on infrastructure projects in the transportation, water/wastewater, site development, and utility fields. Project Management & Estimating Assistant

W.M. Schultz Construction Inc is seeking a full time year-round Project Management & Estimating Assistant. Schultz is a heavy civil contractor with main operations in Saratoga County, NY that constructs water and wastewater treatment facilities, structural concrete, development infrastructure, utility work, site and highway work.

This multifaceted role will provide you a breath of responsibilities across multiple project types. Ideally you will work on a bid and once the job is captured follow into operations to support construction.

Activities include preparing scopes for the bid process, quantity takeoffs, obtaining quotes from vendors, reviewing shop drawings, maintaining work and resource schedules, and general support of day-to-day activities.

This is a growth position intended to be a career opportunity to grow into a Project Manager/Estimator. The successful candidate must be motivated self-starter and work well in an organization that is fast paced, professional, and goal oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare scopes and quantity take-offs for bid process; gather, calculate, and compile data for use in bid proposal estimates in multiple disciplines; reviews historical productivity rates
  • Build & maintain positive working relationships with vendors; Make vendor and subcontractor solicitations for quotes via phone, email, and web portals; document efforts
  • Prepare and review all project shop drawings & submittals for conformity to spec; manage submittal process to owner
  • Provide Support to PM for day-to-day labor, equipment, and material needs; check productivity budgets and manifests for accuracy, coordinate subcontractors & suppliers; order and schedule material for assigned jobs
  • Prepare project schedules in Primavera P6 and maintain 2 & 5 week resource look ahead
  • Completes internal administrative organization responsibilities and documentation, including project logs, files, records, reports, submittals, RFIs, permits, price quotes; develops as-build drawings, preferably with AutoCAD

Job Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction terminology and experience reading and interpreting plans and specs preferred
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, well organized, tidiness, and have the ability to multi-task extremely well and prioritize.
  • Candidate must be able to present a professional image to industry peers, department staff and the project owners.
  • Must be a self-starter, understand deadlines and have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must have good phone and excellent people skills.
  • Computer literacy to include aptitude in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to maintain high job standards and detail orientation in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires familiarity with construction scheduling; experience with estimating software is a plus.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience within the heavy civil construction field is a plus.
  • Associates in Construction Technology, other related degrees or equivalent heavy civil work experience
  • Must be US Citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
